Key tip: Cats do not do well on a grain based diet. If grains are part of a cat's diet, we often see chronic inflammation of the digestive tract, which may result in vomiting regurgitation and frequent hairballs. Many cases of chronic or intermittent vomiting are caused by cats being fed a diet that is not biologicaly appropriate. The work of Dr. Francis Pottenger Jr. confirms that cats do well on a raw meat, aka carnivore diet. Long term grain consumption may lead to conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease and gastrointestinal lymphoma.
